Cool Bird in the Lake at Arlington Park

Riding my bike this morning it was nice to watch the people and birds around the lake at my neighborhood park..

Arlington Park - still a strong market?

Riding my bike this morning I still see lots of construction going on in my neighborhood. Not sure things are selling but the people that live or own property here are still spending money.

Sarasota High School Historic Building is coming back strong

Sarasota Herald Tribune article about he Ringling School of Art and Design and the Sarasota Museum of Art turning this historic building into a showcase for the arts... great news

Former high school to be transformed

The Ringling School of Art and Design and the Sarasota Museum of Art, which merged in October, will spearhead a project to turn the 1926 Collegiate Gothic-style building into a visual arts education center and a contemporary art museum.

The facility will feature art from the 20th and 21st centuries in 11,000 square feet of gallery space. It will also include a 110-seat lecture hall on the first floor and classrooms and studio space on the second and third floors.

Consultant Emily Kass, former director of the Tampa Museum of Art, said the project will give the building new life and the art school and museum a greater presence in the community.

Arlington Park Hike Day 3 - only 3.5 miles and I am done

I did it !!! I walked my first neighborhood !!! Arlington Park was over 22 miles but really nice. Today was some of the nicest parts of the walk. Much more tree canopy and really cool small streets with interesting homes.

IBSSA Blog has a nice picture of a big "ear" tree.. Well I don't want to get into a contest over which neighborhood has the nicest trees but... APNA has some great oaks and banyans.

We also have lots of little hidden "cool" homes. Many are recently renovated but many others are waiting for a loving buyer to come along...

Another great oak tree. Does someone know anything about where the "grand oaks" in Sarasota are? It would be cool to have tree maps ... I would visit some. I saw a woodpecker in one today.

This little home on a half acre was for sale for $600,000.. the sign now says under contract. I don't know what it sold for but ...
