Gillespie Park is Blooming Again
With the recent decision by the Sarasota City Manager it seems Gillespie Park is starting to bloom again after a long dry spell....
The local neighborhood has commited to use their own money to provide new plants in areas that have not had plantings in many years.
Gillespie Park Chess Tables
I just wanted to let everyone know that the Original Gillespie Park Neighborhood Association has received grants from the City and County for $5000 and installed four chess/checker tables in the pavilion in the park. These tables are available for anyone to use. We encourage young and old to bring some game pieces and enjoy the beautiful park.
We are planning an event on September 9. The chess club of the Senior Friendship Center has RSVP'd with 12 members. We are hoping to get a local school's chess club to play the seniors for a little challenge. We will be featuring music, food and drinks. More info available at OGPNA.com.
